The Compass Group provides ongoing LEED for Existing Buildings (LEED-EB) consulting and key performance metric services to the National Geographic Society. The Compass Group recently helped guide the Society to their fifth LEED-EB certification (LEED-EB v2009 Gold) for their three-building headquarters complex in Washington, D.C. The headquarters complex was the first facility to achieve LEED-EB certification in November 2003 as part of the LEED-EB pilot program. NGS subsequently achieved recertification in LEED-EB v2.0 and v2008, and are currently working towards their second recertification under LEED-EB v2009, again, with the assistance of the Compass Group Team.

The Compass Group provided full-service LEED recertification consulting to the Clinton Foundation to assist them with achieving LEED-EB Platinum recertification for the William J. Clinton Presidential Library, located in Little Rock, AR. Compass Group members were also part of the team that consulted with the Clinton Foundation on their initial LEED-EB Platinum certification in 2007.

In July 2013, The Compass Group took part in a sustainability summit at the Library designed to generate innovative and creative ideas for keeping the Library at the forefront of the sustainability movement and a model for LEED projects.

International Finance Corporation Headquarters

The International Finance Corporation (IFC) Headquarters Building is an 882,174 square foot building located in downtown Washington, D.C. The building houses over 2,000 employees who are dedicated to helping companies and financial institutions in emerging markets create jobs, generate tax revenues, improve corporate governance and environmental performance, and contribute to their local communities. Their goal is to improve lives, especially for the people who most need the benefits of growth.

The Compass Group provided full LEED recertification consulting services to the International Finance Corporation to help them obtain LEED-EB v2009 Platinum recertification for their Headquarters building using the complete standard recertification approach. Compass Group members were also part of the team that consulted with the International Finance Corporation on their initial LEED-EB Platinum certification in 2010.

World Bank H Building

The Compass Group worked with Healthy Buildings and The World Bank team to achieve LEED-EB v2009 Silver level certification for the World Bank H building, located in Washington, D.C. by building on work that was being done toward LEED-CI certification in one of the tenant spaces at the same time.

U.S. Bank Plaza Building

US Bank Plaza is a 379,822 square foot office building with ground floor retail and restaurant spaces located on the Capitol Square in downtown Madison, Wisconsin. US Bank Plaza is one of the more recognizable buildings in Madison due to its all-glass exterior. The Compass Group provided full-service LEED consulting services to Urban Land Interests to help them achieve LEED-EB Gold-level recertification using the complete standard recertification approach for the US Bank Plaza building.

Wisconsin Place

Wisconsin Place is a 358,773 square foot office building located in Chevy Chase, Maryland. The Wisconsin Place LEED project building is part of a larger Wisconsin Place mixed-use campus development comprised of office, residential, and retail. The LEED project building footprint is made up of an eleven-story Class A office tower with an extended two-story low-rise section with office space on the second floor. The first floor of both the office tower and low-rise building sections consist mainly of national chain retail spaces.

The Compass Group assisted Boston Properties in obtaining LEED-EB Silver-level Certification for Wisconsin Place. This was a full implementation project, and The Compass Group provided project guidance and technical assistance, and prepared the application submittal. This is the initial certification for this building.

The Compass Group assisted the Clinton Foundation in earning LEED-EB Gold Certification for the Choctaw Station by providing comprehensive technical consulting services. The building is located on the grounds of the Clinton Presidential Center in Little Rock, AR. The renovated 19th-century railroad station now houses Foundation offices and the Clinton School of Public Service. This was a full implementation project, and The Compass Group provided project guidance and technical assistance, and prepared the application submittal.

After completing an initial assessment with regard to key LEED credits and prerequisites, The Compass Group assisted Boston Properties in obtaining LEED-EB Gold Certification for the 235,436 square foot Democracy Tower building located in the Reston Town Center in Reston, VA. This was a full implementation project, and The Compass Group provided project guidance and technical assistance, and prepared the application submittal. This was the initial certification for this building.

The Compass Group assisted Akridge in obtaining LEED-EB Gold Certification for their 11-story commercial office building at 900 7th Street, NW in Washington, D.C. The building is owned by the IBEW (International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers), and is managed by Akridge. This was a full implementation project, and was the initial certification for this building. With the implementation of several energy efficiency measures and water use reduction strategies, the building was able to exceed the sustainable goals set at the onset of the LEED-EB implementation process.

BP / Reston Town Center

South of Market

After completing an initial assessment with regard to key LEED credits and prerequisites, The Compass Group assisted Boston Properties in obtaining LEED-EB Silver Certification for the South of Market building complex. South of Market is a 623,865 square foot building located in Reston Town Center in Reston, Virginia. The building‘s footprint is an entire block within the Town Center consisting of three office towers and shared underground parking under the entire building complex. This was a full implementation project, and The Compass Group provided project guidance and technical assistance, and prepared the application submittal. This was the initial certification for this building.

975 F Street – Carroll Square

The Compass Group assisted Akridge in earning LEED-EB Silver Certification for the 975 F Street Carroll Square building. Carroll Square is a 10 story commercial office building located in downtown Washington, DC on land owned by the Catholic Archdiocese of Washington. Carroll Square incorporates four renovated late 19th century commercial townhouses and the facades of two others into a distinguished new structure accented with brick and stone. The building also includes subsidized artists’ studios and a public art gallery exhibiting the work of regional artists. The Compass Group provided full implementation project guidance and technical assistance, and prepared the application submittal. This was the initial certification for this building.

The Compass Group performed a review of all credits attempted by One Metro Center prior to the building’s application submittal, and then provided additional technical consulting to the building team to address application issues both prior to submittal and during the certification process. Building management changed hands during the application review process from Akridge to the Lincoln Property Company. The Compass Group worked with both companies to take the property smoothly through the certification process.  The building reached its goal of LEED-EB Gold certification.

The Lexington

The Compass Group worked with Gould Property Company to evaluate The Lexington Building with respect to energy efficiency and LEED-EB compliance. The Compass Group performed an historical analysis of energy use data and reviewed previously completed energy audits for LEED compliance. The Lexington is a luxury apartment building located in Washington, DC.

AFT Headquarters

The Compass Group is working with the American Federation of Teachers to evaluate their Headquarters building with respect to energy efficiency and LEED-EB compliance. In consultation with AFT, The Compass Group is developing a strategy for smoothly implementing LEED-EB and achieving certification at the desired level.

The U.S. General Services Administration (GSA) has contracted with CINNOVAS to survey the condition of a number of assets in its portfolio. The Compass Group team was recognized by CINNOVAS as having the depth of experience needed to efficiently evaluate buildings in relationship to LEED for Existing Buildings. The team provided the LEED-EB assessment component for the selected GSA assets on an ongoing basis.
